Louis Vuitton opened his first shop in 1854, selling his signature high-end luggage to Paris's most well traveled jet set. In 1888, Vuitton added the trademark LV logo to his luggage in order to prevent counterfeiting, which as we know, has proved unsuccessful. However, the company has continued to surprise us with new variations of the iconic logo, especially during Marc Jacobs' tenure as head designer of ready-to-wear, which they introduced under his direction in 1997.
