A native of North Carolina, Jim Herrington's first portrait was of Benny Goodman. Inspired by storytelling, his stark style mixes glamour with the everyday. His clients include Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, Esquire and GQ, as well as record labels, and his images depict musicians from Mick Jagger to Willie Nelson.
