Although the New York-based brand has been around for more than three decades, it wasn't until 2003, when Millard "Mickey" Drexler stepped in as CEO, that it would begin its ascension into the upper echelon of global retailers at the core of a men's wear renaissance. In 2010, J. Crew was acquired by two private investment firms for a reported $3 billion and within a couple years expanded to over 100 countries around the globe.
